Meet the Team
Kal Skye, LSW (they/them)
Psychotherapist (Available Soon, Waitlisting)
I think that sometimes finding a therapist and going on a healing journey feels a bit like going on a scavenger hunt without the clues. You have a vague sense of what you need and maybe some strong feelings about what’s not going well, but what comes next isn’t marked on the map yet. Hi, I’m Kal. I love maps, I’m a storyteller at heart, an artist, a researcher, and a therapist. I believe stories in all forms hold the power to transform us.

As a trans and queer person who came out later in life, I know firsthand that life doesn’t always go as planned. Paths fork, bridges sway over a ravine, storms come out of nowhere. Wherever you are in your story and quest, you’re welcome here—completely. I think that journeys are meant to be things we do together, and it would be an honor to come alongside you for this next stretch.

There are a lot of big words that mean different things to different people about how to do therapy. I got a degree in social work from the University of Kansas and I know that the color of the sky just after dusk on the prairie reminds me that magic is always present, especially in the in between moments. I’m currently working on my PhD at Bryn Mawr College where I think a lot about how to make the world a better place. I believe that who we are, where we’ve been, and the way the world perceives us influences the work we do together. If we are working together to try to figure out the map, we are going to spend time talking about the structures that make our journeys more difficult.

During our time together, we may use narrative therapy approaches to have different way of thinking about what’s in your way. We might use art in therapy to explore other ways of visualizing the road ahead. We will use somatic approaches to pay a lot of attention to your body as the main character and container for your story. We will get to know and be in relationship with all your parts, asking them to journey with us. We get to choose our tools together based on your needs but know, our knapsack is full of them.
