Meet the Team
Abigail Beljean, LCSW (she/her)
I received my masters in clinical Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 and have spent the past 13 years supporting both children and adults. I started my career in criminal justice but have since worked with children and families, both in and outside of school settings. I became a therapist because I'm an optimist - I believe all of us are inherently good and that the wounds we inflict on each other in the world can most often be traced back to unprocessed pain. Therapy is one way to help mitigate and heal that pain, making space for the joy we all deserve.
I look at therapy like the excavation of fossils - it can be delicate work, you won't always find the pieces that you're looking for, but over time, as we sweep the dust away, you can see the bigger picture. My hope as a clinician to be alongside you through that journey, providing you the tools to do that work and encouraging you to be gentle with all the parts of yourself as we continue to dig. I am eclectic in my approach, but my lens is both trauma-informed and guided by a person-in-environment perspective - our emotional wellbeing is impacted by the things that have happened to us and also the systems we live in. We can journey together and explore how we care for ourselves in a way that recognizes those realities.
